The NNDC HOPP Resource Directory is designed to provide contact information on a variety of resources available to Northglenn homeowners.  This list is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all resources available to homeowners but rather a starting point we feel may be beneficial to the community.

The resources are organized into the following sections:

Financial HOUSING ASSISTANCE

  • Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)

    CHFA provides down payment and closing cost  assistance for first time homebuyers and also provides programs for non first time homebuyers.

  • Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)
    1-800-HEAT HELP/1-800-432-8435
    Designed to help eligible low-income households with winter home heating costs. 

  • Veterans Administration
    Provides mortgages and education resources to veterans.  Loan guarantees are made with similar terms and rates as FHA loans.

  • Federal Programs

    • FHA An FHA loan is a home mortgage that allows for a purchase or refinance with a low down payment and is insured by the Federal Housing Administration.

    • HUD HUD's mission is to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. To fulfill this mission, HUD will embrace high standards of ethics, management and accountability and forge new partnerships--particularly with faith-based and community organizations--that leverage resources and improve HUD's ability to be effective on the community level.  Wide variety of housing information; government policies/regulations for government insured loans, new homebuyer information, database of housing counseling agencies for all of the United States, funding news, community housing development information and fair housing information.

    • Teacher Next Door To strengthen America's communities by providing home ownership opportunities for teachers in HUD-designated revitalization areas, and to improve the quality of life in these neighborhoods by their presence.

  • Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association an organization committed to a world of homeownership achieved through the practice of integrity-based lending. We serve our community through effective education, principled representation, and gracious networking to advance free enterprise and the highest ethical standards in the mortgage lending industry.  A list of member banks and lenders plus home buyer information, mortgage calculators, other information regarding housing and banking issues.

  • Fannie Mae Fannie Mae is a private, shareholder-owned company that works to make sure mortgage money is available for people in communities all across America. We do not lend money directly to home buyers. Instead, we work with lenders to make sure they don't run out of mortgage funds, so more people can achieve their goal of homeownership.

  • Freddie Mac Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress to increase the supply of funds that mortgage lenders, such as commercial banks, mortgage bankers, savings institutions and credit unions, can make available to homebuyers and multifamily investors.  Freddie Mac conducts its business primarily by buying mortgages from lenders, packaging the mortgages into securities and selling the securities - guaranteed by Freddie Mac—to investors.

  • Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation (CRHDC)

    Promotes safe, decent, and affordable housing for migrants, seasonal farm workers and low-to-moderate-income families across Colorado.  CRHDC's vision and commitment to housing has grown the organization from a one-county storefront operation into a multi-faceted corporation serving over 40 counties and hundreds of families across the state.  Our drive is to serve urban communities as well, through an affiliate corporation called Colorado Housing Enterprises, LLC (CHE) designed to provide first and second mortgage lending opportunities to low-income families.

  • Rebuilding Together Metro Denver

    Rebuilding Together Metro Denver is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the community to rehabilitate the houses of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and disabled, so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence.  Contact Rebuilding Together if you or someone you know is low-income and elderly or disabled and is need of home repairs such as roof repair or replacement, window repair or replacement, flooring, cabinets, light plumbing, appliances, handrails, grab bars, fire safety equipment, fencing, weatherizing, doors and locks, furnace replacement or ramps.

  • Brothers Redevelopment

    local, non-profit housing redeveloper, founded in 1971 by our former President, Joe Giron, and a Mennonite minister, a Lutheran minister, and a Catholic layperson. Since then, we have concentrated on programs that allow low-income elderly and disabled persons to continue living independently in their homes and communities.  Their mission is to provide safe, affordable, accessible housing and housing services for the low-income, elderly and disabled of Colorado.

  • Adams County Housing Authority (ACHA)

    erves Adams County residents for whom conventional housing is unaffordable.  Assist individuals, families, seniors and persons with disabilities throughout all of Adams County, including the rural and unincorporated areas.  Goal is to provide these households with quality, affordable housing options while supporting their efforts to achieve economic self-sufficiency.  Owns and operates several homes and apartment complexes which are made available to low income families, seniors, and persons with physical disabilities.

  • Senior HUB Information and Referral

    The Senior Hub, Inc. is a Senior Services agency offering support and referral to older adults age 55 and over in the north Denver metropolitan area.

  • Senior Housing Locator Program

    This program reflects a merger between the Elderly Housing Hotline and the CHOICE Senior Housing Counseling programs.  The Senior Housing Locator program is designed to maximize senior citizens' access to information that can help them resolve their housing problems in the best way possible - avoiding unnecessary stress and displacement.

  • Colorado Housing Counseling Coalition
    A coalition of housing counselors and interested housing professionals who joined together in the interest of housing.  Their mission is to promote affordable housing for low and moderate-income families through housing counseling and the sharing of knowledge, resources and counseling techniques among members.  Member agencies help people improve their housing conditions and meet the responsibilities of homeownership and tenancy.  Among the many services the member agencies provide are: pre-purchase counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, housing consumer education, debt management, and reverse equity mortgage counseling

  • Community Housing Services (CHSI)

    The mission of CHSI is to provide services for individuals, primarily low-income and seniors. The goal is to locate, secure and maintain housing.  Provides housing education, information and referrals to the Metro Denver community.

 Educational

  • City of Northglenn provides educational seminars and outreach meeting at periodic times throughout the year.

  • NNDC provides workshops through its Home Ownership Pride Program (HOPP) on pertinent homeowner subjects.  Past workshops included Reverse Mortgages, Energy Conservation and the like.

  • Homebuyers Counseling - Adams County and organizations like the Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation, a non-profit, offer HUD certified counseling for first time homebuyers.  Many lenders require it and give a break in interest rate or other concessions to people who become certified by the program.  Brothers Redevelopment also offers Home Counseling.

  • Rangeview Library District - Northglenn Branch, 10530 Huron, 303-452-7534 - The Northglenn Branch has 9629 square feet of space and contains about 75,000 volumes.  The reference collection and reference desk are located in the lower level.  Experienced reference librarians are available to help patrons use the reference collection.

  • ESL- Adams County Adult Literacy Program through Adams County Libraries

  • CSU Cooperative Extension services offer training seminars and lectures to anyone in Colorado.  The Cooperative Extension’s focus is on agriculture.

  • Home Buying Guides - A variety of tools to assist potential homebuyers. Offered in six different languages and sponsored by the Fannie Mae Foundation, this website offers brochures, mortgage calculators, and a link to a lender locator on the Fannie Mae website.

  • MortgageLoan.Com - a website dedicated to providing information about the mortgage process.  Of particular interest is the section for persons with disabilities.  The link here goes directly to the Housing & Mortgages for People with Disabilities guide.
